7 Reasons Why You Actually Shouldn't Hug Your Dog | Fitdog (www.fitdog.com)

April 10th might be Hug Your Dog Day, but we’re here to defend why you actually shouldn’t hug your dog. Really, most dogs don’t like hugs. Don’t @ us.

Look, I’m going to admit I really love hugging dogs. Especially mine, she’s one of the most huggable-looking animal on the planet. But this article makes some really good, scientifically-supported arguments not to hug those lil goobers, enough that even I’m considering them. It really helps explains a lot of dogs’ behaviors and reactions, and the only thing I want to do more than hug all the dogs is avoid making them upset and stressed.

It’ll be a long road to recovery if I can’t verify that my dog tolerates or enjoys her hugs, but I’m glad I read this article.

I was so sad when I first found out that pups really don’t like to be hugged (because I love giving hugs to their furry little faces), but it does make a lot of sense when reading up on it. So, I try not to!
