'I know it's me, but I see a different person' – Face Transplant Recipient Shares His St (www.bbc.com)

Warning for potentially graphic injuries.

Eight years ago, Robert Chelsea was hit by a drunk driver and sustained third-degree burns on more than half of his body. In 2019, he became the first ever African American recipient of a full-face transplant. Filmed & directed: Hannah Long-Higgins Producer: Ben Davis Sound Recordists: Tamika Adams, Paige Sutherland Executive Producer: Vara Szajkowski With thanks to Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Incredible journey this man has gone through. Robert looks much better now than he did before. Even when he was heavily scarred, he was still a humble, kind person, and brings me a lot of joy to know he finally has the lips to kiss his daughter on the cheek again.
