Resolution Blues

Have you ever thought about how we, as a society, view New Year’s resolutions? I was thinking about it this year and it honestly surprises me how much just the IDEA of setting resolutions for the year can send folks into a whirlwind. Even if we don’t meet the resolutions, I still think it’s such a good idea to simply set some! It’s just like creating a vision board or something, ya know?

With a vision board, you take the time to picture something you want to shoot for, your dreams and goals that you want to manifest into reality. Print off pictures that remind you of that goal and slap them onto a piece of wood, card stock, whatever you have on hand. Then, you put that board up in your room or office and forget about it. Well, at least you can forget about it if you want to. Or you can take the opportunity to look at the board and dream. Just looking at it may remind you of what you want for the year so that you can take the steps necessary to shoot for that goal!

Whether those goals are ever reached or not really doesn’t matter. What matters most is that you can take a look at yourself and see what needs to change. That’s a huge step right there; just thinking about it. Then, if you apply yourself and take one goal at a time, you can conquer those resolutions/dreams. If they don’t get done this year, that’s ok. You can take a second look at them next year and see if it’s even something you still want to focus on! All that matters is that you are in a constant state of change and growth- I really think it helps us to be better people overall πŸ™‚

I’d love to hear what you think about resolutions and if you’ve set any, or if you prefer to just take things as they come throughout the year. Let me know below and let’s support each other!

As a girl who loves everything sweet and lovely, there is no surprise that I'm addicted to three main things in life: ice cream, fantasy fiction, and my adorable dogs. Growing up in the mountains, I have a natural love for the outdoors and a travel lust that can't be quenched (well it can but only because I have to save up money in between)! When I'm not busy exploring the wilderness or reading my next favorite book, you'll find me diving into video game worlds such as Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda- exploring their vast worlds and obsession over my favorite characters :)

You have really inspired me to consider making a vision board. One of the problems I have always had is sticking to resolutions (I know, I’m not the only one πŸ™‚ But actually seeing them every day? That would be very valuable and I think people would really be inspired to keep going toward them. It’s similar to my strategy of counting my calories and weighing myself every day, since whether the numbers are good or bad, it keeps it in your mind and makes you focus on not giving up!
