The Vtuber Industry: Corporatization, Labor, and Kawaii (www.vice.com)

This article takes a dive into the world of Virtual Youtubers, or V-Tubers, and their explosion in popularity and profitability over the past year.

To be honest, this article was hard to read for me, because I’m actually a fan of V-Tubers and several of talents mentioned in this very article. Some of the events or details I’ve brushed off have had further impact than what I’ve been seeing on my youtube subscriptions, and it’s a lot more complicated and uncharted territory than I gave it credit for. I just hope I can enjoy my anime girl playing videogames clips with a peaceful conscience going forward.
